After breakfast start a day trip to the elephant’s home located in Magway (45-minute drive from Kalaw). Green Hill Valley elephant camp was founded in 2011 to protect the local environment and care for ageing and poorly elephants.
Upon arrival, Green Hill Valley Team will warmly welcome us and inform about project. As well as safety instruction will be given before interacting with elephants.
A Walk (5-7mins) to elephant village and we will see the life of mahouts with their families. After introducing the elephants and feeding them (daily prepared food), the team will lead us go to the river where elephant bath and we can join for washing elephants like our owned pet.
Riding is not the main focus. The team will let us be in touch with our elephants as Mahouts during the washing time. We will have opportunity to help in the forest recovery project. We are welcomed to join the team by planting one regional tree for forest recovery efforts. (GHV team will assist for planting program).
Lunch will be served at the main camp. From the main camp, we can visit to the recycle paper project from elephant poo, and further learning elephant study with Skeleton.
We may able to have more information about elephants and forest (from the speakers). Then, we may explore around the forest area, opportunity to see butterflies, birds and orchids in our conservation area, if we want to spend longer time in the nature. (by our owned exploration, if time permit).
End of the day, drive back to Kalaw.
