Today start our journey to Golden Rock. We will drive together to the base camp of Kyaiktiyo which takes about 3.5 hours.
On the way, photo stop at the Allied War Cemetery in Htauk Kyant. This memorial cemetery was built in 1,951 and the final resting place for over 27,000 allied soldiers who died in the Myanmar Campaign during World War II.
We then will visit Kya Khat Wai Monastery, one of the three largest Monasteries in the country, to observe the Buddhist monastic life.
Continue our journey to Kyaiktiyo “The Golden Rock”, a boulder covered in gold, is balanced precariously on the very edge of a cliff. Upon arrival of Kinpun base camp, we will switch from private car to a mountain hill truck for your trip up to the mountain station. This one-hour drive to mountain offers fascinating view along the path and surrounding.
Arrive at the mountain station from where it is just a short walk (approx. 10 minutes) to the Golden Rock. Visit the pagoda and there are amazing sunsets and sunrises to see and the huge rock shows its most beautiful color at dawn and dusk, while the pilgrims light candles and meditate all through the night.
